Philadelphia Staves Off Elimination with 97-92 OT Win
The Philadelphia 76ers fought back from the brink of elimination on Saturday night, defeating the New York Knicks 97-92 in overtime in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Tyrese Maxey saved the day for the Sixers, scoring seven points in the final 25 seconds of regulation to force overtime and then adding another five in the extra session to lead his team to victory.
The Knicks had a chance to close out the series in Game 5, but they couldn't hold on to their lead in the final minutes. Maxey's late-game heroics not only kept the Sixers' season alive but also gave them a chance to tie the series in Game 6 on Monday night.
The Sixers will now return to Philadelphia for Game 6, needing a win to force a Game 7 in New York. The Knicks, meanwhile, will be looking to close out the series at home and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Game 6 is scheduled for Monday night at 8:00 p.m. ET.
