"I have raised these concerns with you on a number of occasions, but I have not been satisfied with the response. I therefore believe that it is right for me to step down as Home Secretary.
"I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as Home Secretary. I have always been proud to work in the public service, and I wish you and the government all the best in the future.
