Canada's Monarchy: The Prime Minister and the Monarch

The Prime Minister: Head of Government

The Prime Minister is the Head of the Canadian government. They are appointed by the Monarch (currently His Majesty King Charles III) and serve at the Monarch's pleasure. The Prime Minister is responsible for leading the Cabinet, developing and implementing government policies, and representing Canada internationally.

His Majesty King Charles III: Monarch and Head of State

In today's constitutional monarchy, His Majesty King Charles III holds the position of King of Canada and Canada's Head of State. While the King's role is largely ceremonial, he is still considered the Chief Executive of Canada and plays a symbolic role in the country's governance. King Charles III was officially proclaimed Canada's Head of State on Saturday in a ceremony that included the reading of a proclamation and the singing of the national anthem.
