Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu quits Telugu Desam Party
Naidu, a former minister in the Chandrababu Naidu government, cited personal reasons for his decision
He is the third TDP leader to quit the party in recent weeks
Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, a former minister in the Chandrababu Naidu government, has quit the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Naidu, who is from Srikakulam district, cited personal reasons for his decision.
"I have been associated with the TDP for over two decades and have always worked for the welfare of the party and the people of Andhra Pradesh," Naidu said in a statement. "However, I have decided to quit the party due to personal reasons."
Naidu's resignation comes at a time when the TDP is facing a leadership crisis. Chandrababu Naidu, the party's national president, has been facing criticism from within the party for his leadership style.
Naidu is the third TDP leader to quit the party in recent weeks. Former minister Ayyanna Patrudu and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi also quit the party recently.
The TDP is the main opposition party in Andhra Pradesh. The party has been out of power since 2019, when it lost the assembly elections to the YSR Congress Party.
Naidu's resignation is a setback for the TDP. He was a senior leader in the party and his departure will weaken the party's presence in Srikakulam district.
It is not yet clear what Naidu's future plans are. He is likely to join another political party or start his own party.
