Missile Fired From Yemen Lands In Central Israel And Triggers Sirens At International Airport

Missile fired from Yemen lands in central Israel and triggers sirens at international airport

Israeli military says attack caused no injuries or damage

The projectile, which caused no injuries or damage, was the first such strike on Israel from Yemen since 2019.

The Israeli military says a missile fired from Yemen landed in central Israel early on Friday, triggering sirens at the country's main international airport and causing no injuries or damage.

The military said in a statement that the projectile was fired from Yemen at around 4:00 a.m. local time (01:00 GMT) and struck an open area in the central Israeli city of Hod Hasharon.

The attack was the first such strike on Israel from Yemen since 2019, when a Houthi rebel group claimed responsibility for firing a missile at the southern Israeli city of Eilat.

The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have been fighting a Saudi-led coalition since 2015. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and caused a humanitarian crisis.

The attack comes as tensions between Israel and Iran have been rising in recent weeks. Iran is a major supporter of the Houthis, and Israel has accused Tehran of providing them with weapons and training.

In a statement, the Israeli military said it was "investigating the incident and will take appropriate action as necessary."
