Robinson: Grealish will face boos in Ireland game
Former Republic of Ireland player Paul Robinson believes Jack Grealish will face a hostile reception when he returns to Dublin for England's friendly against the Republic of Ireland.
Grealish, who was born in England but qualifies for Ireland through his grandparents, has been booed by Irish fans in the past for his decision to represent England.
Robinson, who played for Ireland for 10 years, believes the crowd will make their feelings known to Grealish when he takes to the pitch at the Aviva Stadium on Thursday.
"I think he'll get a hostile reception," Robinson told Off The Ball.
"I think the Irish fans will make it clear what they think of his decision to play for England.
"He's a very good player, there's no doubt about that, but I think he's made the wrong decision in choosing to play for England."
Robinson's comments echo those of former Ireland manager Mick McCarthy, who said last year that Grealish "should be ashamed" of his decision to play for England.
Grealish has said that he is "proud" to play for England, but he has also admitted that he understands why some Irish fans are upset with his decision.
"I can understand why some people in Ireland are disappointed with my decision," Grealish said in an interview with the BBC.
"But I've always felt English, and I'm proud to represent England."
The friendly between England and the Republic of Ireland is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 12th.
