Ukraine and Russia Exchange Prisoners of War
First Swap in Nearly Four Months
Hundreds Released
KYIV, May 31 (Reuters) - Ukraine and Russia on Wednesday announced their first exchange of prisoners of war in nearly four months, with each side releasing hundreds of captured soldiers.
The exchange was described as a "humanitarian gesture" by both sides and is seen as a possible sign of progress in the ongoing peace talks between the two countries.
The swap took place at a border crossing between the two countries and was overseen by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
